Touching tributes from Goldie Harvey's family: husband, father, step mother and siblings…

Husband- Leonard Andrew Harvey

Tribute to my sunshine
Susan, you walked into my life. It was like God sent you as a fresh breath, I still remember your response to my first love message (SMS) 'Love killed Romeo, sent Diana to an early grave and killed Jack on the Titanic. Forget about love, just have friendship and live long'. Over time, our love grew to a depth I have never known. You were the best years of my life, your smile, your energy, your desire to live in your dreams.
The physical pain of your loss is so hard to bear, but I console myself that you are in the arms of the Lord and with our wonderful memories. I am fortunate that your drive to seek fame has immortalized you in word, song and picture. Not many have this opportunity to keep memories alive.
Nothing sums up my feelings more than 'Fine' the song we played together so many times and I still remember being dressed as Father Christmas while you sang live at Silverbird and more recently for TV at our home when you returned from Big Brother. Little did I know what those words would come to mean.
No Autumn, Summer, Spring, just Winters all it brings
As I'm standing at home all alone.
Your pictures brings back memories of how I thought that it could be
But you drifted away without a goodbye
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm doing real fine, fine okay
It's just that I'm missing you, but I'll get along anyway
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm doing real fine, fine okay
You took my heart and ran away but I'll get along anyway.
No spoken words to me, when love was all I could see
We had good going on now but now am singing this sad song.
I don't know why you disappeared; I wish that you would reappear
Cos brightness never shows without you here
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm doing real fine, fine okay
It's just that I'm missing you, but I'll get along anyway.
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm doing real fine, fine okay
You took my heart and ran away but I'll get along anyway
I don't know why you disappeared; I wish that you would appear
Cos brightness never shows without you here.
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm saying real fine, fine okay
It's just that I'm missing you, but I'll get along anyway
I'm saying hey, hey, hey
I'm doing real fine, fine okay
You took my heart and ran away but I'll get along anyway
Adieu my love, farewell and bon voyage until we meet again when I join you in the next life! Lewy

Pastor Samuel Dipo Filani- Father
Oluwabimpe my daughter,
Bimpe Harvey (nee Filani) was my first born, the first evidence of my strength and destiny. She was hardworking, focused, intelligent, and smart and determined to excel. She started relating to celebrities in newspapers and magazines as a teenager. I did not encourage her but she chose her path and I had to succumb. We trained to expose her to the TRUTH- JESUS CHRIST. We were hoping that one day she would be singing for Jesus. Indeed, she has started showing signs of becoming a blessing to the family, but God knows best! Her stepmother made wonderful efforts to help like any biological mother would do. Her husband, Andrew Harvey spoilt her with love and care, we are satisfied that we have all done our best. We all love you and would miss your love and support. Adieu Oluwabimpe Goldie Harvey.
Daddy

Mrs Filani- Stepmother

Oluwabimpe mi owon,
I cannot but recall the first time I saw you in your dad's office in 1998. You were a pretty young girl with a smile that reached your eyes and wisdom far beyond your age. Anyone meeting you could not but help love you. Bimpe, you were truly a loving child, smart, brilliant, beautiful. I recall a statement you made in Big Brother House when you didn't act as other wanted saying 'I know my dad is watching me'. That for us was evidence of your respect and love for the family even though you could not be perfect. Who is?
I recall also our visit to you and Andrew last year in your home and the many desires you both had for 2013. Alas it was not to be. We just wished things had turned out differently for you and that we had enough time to pray about this illness without it costing you your life. Your life and death is another parable that only the Lord can explain but evidence that we are not in charge of our lives. Only God owns tomorrow. 'Kabi o osi o' you are the Alpha and Omega, kabi o si o, kabi o si o"
You will be greatly missed and remembered adieu.
Mum

Toyin Filani – Sister
My Darling Sister
Sis Bimpe, I really don't know what to say, but this is the greatest shock of my life. Your passing away still looks like a dream to me. I always thought that we all would live long and be happy. That we all will fulfil the purpose for which God has called us into the world to accomplish, I never knew that you will leave so soon. I use to remember those wonderful times when we were still very young. We sang songs together, had a lot of art work together, we played all kinds of games back then… I remember those times when as a big sister, you comforted us when mummy died, till I left for secondary school. Even when we weren't all that close again, you still did the best you could and supported me and my younger ones. Indeed you did the best you could at a very short period of time….Well, in all God knows best' he has the final say to our lives. I just want to use this medium to say I love you, may you rest in the bosom of the lord till we meet to path no more! Adieu
 Toyin Filani.

Gideon Filani- Brother
Big Sis
Big sis, like I always called you, it is a painful thing that a lot of things you said you will do, you couldn't why? Only eternity will tell but till we get to the road that leads to the beyond, let me say that you will be greatly missed. The times we laughed together and the periods we argued with each other …… You were a darling with a heart always seeking to do more!!
We know that we'll one day meet at the master's feet and we'll rejoice forever!!! You have lived your life to that which time could permit and left for that place beyond time… you will be missed big time Sis Bim….. Love you sister….
Gideon Filani

Joshua- Brother
Sis Bim
You came, you saw, you conquered; surely there is no other way to describe her life. Sis you achieved what very few would achieve in a lifetime in a very short life. You impacted the lives of thousands who loved you for it….
You were a blessing when u were alive and you are still a blessing now…. You touched my life in so many ways that I can't describe, you would be greatly missed and the magnitude of which words cannot express… your name would never be forgotten as long as I am alive. I love you sis, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU.
Your baby Joshua

The Filani twins
Aunty Goldie we miss you. When are you coming to sing and dance for us. Love you

Apart from the fact that the current Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is said to be taking giant strides in transforming the education sector in his domain, there are several historical factors that tilted the choice Abeokuta way.

The former Fulham defender, who last played in England with Leicester City, is currently being held in the Legon station in the capital Accra.

According to Accra police spokesman, Freeman Tettey, he claimed Paintsil stabbed his wife in the upper eyelid, and she had to be rushed to a hospital.

Policemen attached to Igando Division have arrested a business man who allegedly raped a recuperating mentally ill teenager, where she was chained in an apartment at Egan, a Lagos suburb.

The suspected rapist  identified as Gowo Ewhe, sneaked into the teenager's apartment (names withheld) located on 14 Akindele Street, Tuesday, after her parents and other occupants had gone out and allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.

But the bubble burst  following the  discovery of  the teenager's blood stained underwear by her mother on arrival in the evening. Out  of curiosity,  she asked  what happened only to be informed by her daughter of what transpired earlier.

Her mother, a petty trader at Igando market, reportedly raised alarm, consequent upon which the alleged perpetrator who at that time was resting in his room with his wife and three children was apprehended and handed over to the police.

Julius Berger To Build Second Niger Bridge

The Federal Government has announced Julius Berger AIMS Consortium as the preferred bidder for the construction of the Second Niger Bridge that is to connect Delta and Anambra states.

The Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, stated this in Abuja on Friday after hours-long meeting with delegates from the consortium and various government agencies.

According to him, five construction firms took part in the bidding process, but Julius Berger AIMS Consortium won.

He said, 'We have gone through a painstaking procurement process that lasted for about 13 months and at the end of the procurement the preferred bidder has emerged. It is important to let Nigerians know that very competent consortia bid for this particular project.

'I am happy to announce that at the end of the procurement process, Julius Berger AIMS Consortium emerged as the preferred bidder for the Second Niger Bridge project.'

Onolememen said the project was advertised for expression of interest, adding that the concessionaires expressed interest in the bidding for the project under the Design, Finance, Build, Operate and Transfer model.

'And that is why this particular meeting was convened today to commence the second phase of this particular transaction that will necessarily lead to the preliminary site work of the bridge that will link Onitsha and Asaba in Anambra and Delta states,' he said.

Onolememen added, 'Going forward, part of the work that will be carried out in the next couple of weeks will include detailed hydrological and topographical surveys, and of course, a geological survey. And we will always carry out a detailed environmental/social impact assessment of the process and an in-depth traffic survey among others.'

He said the government's transaction adviser had virtually completed a detailed traffic survey, stressing that Nigerians should know that the Federal Government was committed to delivering the Second Niger Bridge project. 'I want to assure Nigerians that this project is fast becoming a reality,' he said.

Asked to comment on the duration of the project, he said, 'This is not a contract. It is a PPP transaction. The PPP transaction will cover a period of 25 years for them (Julius Berger AIMS Consortium). By the conclusion of the discussions on the second phase, at least the construction period will emerge. It is not like a normal contract that the government is funding.'

He explained that the consortium would raise the fund for the project and that the government would only take a very marginal percentage of it to show commitment.

He said, 'It is interesting to note that Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers or AIMS, are world leaders in infrastructure financing and they are in partnership with one of the biggest infrastructure financier in the world. And we are happy that this project has been able to attract such a group to this country.'

Former banker jailed 9 years for stealing N35 million

HighCourt sitting in Ikeja has sentenced a former banker, Vera Ogbonna Akanni to nine years imprisonment for defrauding her bank customers various sums of money to the tune of N35.4 million.

The convict was prosecuted on an eight count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing by fraudulent conversion.

Prior to her sentencing, defence counsel, Yinka Oyeniji, drew the attention of the court to an affidavit of means placed before the court on February 17, 2013.
Besides, Justice Onigbanjo asked the prosecution counsel, Oluwatoyin Owodunni, if the convict had any previous records of conviction.
Owodunni confirmed to the court that the convict did not have any such record.

However, the prosecution counsel further addressed the court on the convict's sentencing, saying that the offence for which she was tried attracts a punishment of between seven and twenty years imprisonment.
"My lord, this is money entrusted to the convict as a banker and an account officer. Her criminal conduct is not only a breach of trust but a heinous crime.
This money belongs to innocent and
unsuspecting members of the public", Owodunni submitted.
He, therefore, prayed the court that the convict be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Justice Onigbanjo consequently sentenced the convict to 7 years imprisonment on two of the counts and 2 (two) years imprisonment on two other counts effective from December 2, 2009 when she was first arrested.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
Also, Justice Onigbanjo ordered the convict to make full restitution of the stolen money to the owners.

"I'm looking forward to continuing this journey" - Kim Kardashian Not Quitting 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' Anymore

Some few days back, Kim Kardashian announced that she was quitting her family reality show, Keeping Up
With the Kardashians at the end of season 9. But it seems she has changed her mind about that now.

Here is what she wrote on her personal blog: As everyone knows, we are extremely proud of the show and all of us are staying on through at least
season 10. The show remains to be my number 1 priority and it's a big part of my life and I enjoy every moment of it. It has given me such a rare opportunity to share more of my life with all of you

The fact is that I have many goals that I still need to reach and accomplish and I (like so many of you) don't know where my life will be in the next couple of years, but I'm looking forward to continuing this journey.

Two judges suspended over Oyinlola, Akingbola cases

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola
The National Judicial Council has asked President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State to sack two judges – Justice Charles Archibong of the Federal High Court, Lagos, and Justice T. D. Naron of the High Court of Justice, Plateau State – respectively.

The NJC said it had already suspended the two judges.

The two judges had delivered controversial judgments that many described as embarrassing to the judiciary.

While Naron drew the  anger of the NJC over his handling of the governorship tussle between ex-Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and the incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola,  Archibong's sin lied in his controversial ruling in the case involving a former managing director of Intercontinental Bank, Erastus Akingbola.

The NJC said it found that Naron was in constant contact with Oyinlola's counsel, Kunle Kalejaiye (SAN), through telephone, MMS and SMS messages, while Archibong was said to have dismissed the grievous corruption charges against Akingbola even without taking the banker's plea. He also refused to release the Certified True Copy of his ruling to lawyers.

A statement from the Acting Director, Information, in the NJC, Mr. Soji Oye, said the Council took the decision at an emergency meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Oye, in the statement said, "Hon. Justice Archibong was recommended for compulsory retirement to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, pursuant to the findings by the council on the

following complaints levelled against him:

"That the judge dismissed the grievous charges against an accused person (Erastus Akingbola) without taking his plea.

"That he refused to release the Certified True Copy of his ruling to the lawyers.

"That the judge issued a bench warrant on some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party for contempt even when the counsel who was directed by the court to serve them an affidavit had not been able to serve the contempt application.

"That he made unfounded and caustic remarks on professional competence of some Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

"That there were glaring procedural irregularities which showed that Archibong did not have a full grasp of the law and procedure of the court.

"That he granted the leave sought in the originating summons that had no written address of the parties and without hearing both parties in the originating summons after he had earlier overruled the preliminary objection."

As regards the suspension of Justice Naron, the statement said there were constant and regular voice calls and exchange of mms and sms messages between the judge and one of the lead counsels during the election petition tribunal sitting in Osun.

"(The communication was) for one of the parties to the suit in the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal."

Call logs of Mr. Narons's phone was said to have shown that he was in constant communication with Kalejaiye.

He later dismissed the petitioner's claim and declared Oyinlola the validly elected winner of the 2007 governorship election in Osun.

Mr. Oyinlola was, however, later sacked by the Court of Appeal which declared Aregbesola the authentic winner of the election.

The statement added that Naron's action was contrary to the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers vide Section 292 (1) (b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

"The National Judicial Council has in the exercise of its disciplinary powers under the 1999 Constitution suspended the two judges from office with immediate effect," Oye said.

Also, the Council has set up a fact-finding committee to investigate allegations brought against Justice Abubakar Talba of a Federal Capital Territory High Court, who recently gave a convicted pension thief, Mr. John Yusuf, an option of N750, 000 fine for conniving with others to defraud the Police Pension Office of N27.2bn.

The light sentence had generated public uproar with civil society groups condemning the judgment.

Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), on Thursday commended the CJN for the decision of the NJC to recommend the sack of the judges.

Falana in a statement on Thursday described NJC's decision as "a determined move to restore confidence in the Judiciary of the country".

"The NJC has sent a clear message that the days of judicial impunity are over. We therefore call on President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Jonah Jang to approve the retirement of Justice Archibong and Justice Naron respectively as recommended by the NJC," he added.

Also, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders has commended the NJC for its recommendations.

The Executive Chairman of the coalition, Adeniran Debo, in a statement said, "This is a giant stride by the NJC to rid our bench of the bad eggs. It is a welcome development that the NJC is now waking up to its responsibilities. The sack of Justice Naron and his colleague will go a long way to restore the hope of the masses in the judiciary.

"It is however worthy of note that these two judges are not the only ones delivering kangaroo judgment, the NJC should beam its searchlight on other judges who have become compromised and flush them out of the bench, if we must win the war against electoral and other forms of corruption in the country."

"A long time ago, I realized that my acting is not only about myself, it's an extension of many things that I hope for in our industry. So I made up my mind to extend myself to film projects that improve our movie making prospects within the continent. I believe that this can also inspire young actors coming behind me.  Tinsel is a typical reflection of that, after all, its' one of the most successful soaps out of Nigeria."

Photos From Goldie's Childhood and Marriage!!

A few years ago, Goldie gave an in-depth interview to a Nigerian newspaper. In the interview, the star talked about several intimate subjects – her mother's death when she was a young child, living and studying for her degree in the UK, her entrepreneurial pursuits (at the time, she had a successful business unrelated to music – from what we remember, it was related to making cards) and also her marriage.
After that, we never saw any other mention of her marriage in future interviews. We simply assumed that she decided to keep it private or the marriage was dissolved.

It has been over 24 hours since her untimely death and now, Goldie's husband - Andrew Harvey has emerged with photographs of the couple together. From their wedding photographs to more recent photographs of them together. Andrew also appealed to Prezzo to "leave our family to grieve in peace" via his Facebook page.

Goldie Died Of Drugs— Sources

Nigeria's music diva, Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey, popularly known as Goldie, who died Thursday night may have died as a result of doping complications, close sources to her said.

She died last night at Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, and barely few hours after she arrived from Los Angeles, United States of America.

Goldie: shocking death

Goldie's death was confirmed yesterday by her management via her Facebook Page and Twitter handle. The post reads: "It is with heavy heart that I have to announce to you all that Goldie passed on this night (last night) shortly after arriving Lagos from Los Angeles. May her soul rest in the eternal peace of the Lord… Amin."

The main cause of her death is still sketchy as at time of filing this report. Goldie was said to have been rushed to Reddington Hospital by close friend, Denrele Edun from her Park View residence after she complained of headache.

But a source close to the music star has revealed that Goldie died of complications from the use of drugs. "She had complications from the use of dope. I guess things went wrong this time around."

Source added this morning that "she had been into this drug stuff for some time now. I believe that contributed to her death." Goldie, who represented Nigeria at last year's Big Brother Amplified (BBA) in South Africa, is signed to Kennis Music.

Keke Ogungbe, the President of Kennis Music, confirmed the death of the songstress in a statement this morning. "On behalf of Kennis Music, I'm sad to officially confirm the shocking and untimely passage of Nigeria's pop star, Goldie Harvey. With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache at her Park View residence shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award.

"She was rushed to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance Goldie passed away, the abundance of talent she has exhibited in her but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her. She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters."

The remains of Goldie, who hails from Ekiti State have been deposited at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital mortuary.

The deceased attended Green Springs Montessori Primary School and St. John's College, Palm Grove before moving on to the University of Sunderland where she studied Business Management.

She joined Kennis Music in 2010 and had her debut album, Gold. Some of her hit songs are "You Know It", "JawoJawo" and DTMB (Don't Touch My Body).

In her music career, Goldie received 10 awards, including Exquisite Lady of the year, Best Female Artiste award and City People Best Female Artiste of the year.

Goldie became the final celebrity to exit the BBA7 star game house in 2012 as the 3rd runner up..

Faith Nzube Enemuo Batch “C” member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Died Trying To Save A Ball

Faith Nzube Enemuo Batch "C" member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been reported to have drowned in a river in Ikom Local Council where she is currently serving.

She is a graduate of Social Studies from the University of Abuja. She came along with her co-corpers to play handball at the bank of the river. But, a few minutes into the game, she went missing.

There were about 10 of them, who came to play handball on the dry land near the Ikom River. One of them suggested that they should move closer to the river, but the suggestion was opposed by other Corps members. The ball fell into the river, an eyewitness said, and the late Faith offered to fetch the ball, which was moving faster away from the shoreline.

The late Faith stood close to the river for a few seconds, after which she dived to bring the ball out. Her colleagues watched in excitement as she swam close to the ball. But, in a moment, she stopped and started waving her hands. They thought she was still playing, until they didn't see her again on the water surface.

When her colleagues realized what was happening, they signaled to the villagers, who were swimming in the river. After 10 minutes of frantic search, the rescuers could not find the girl. More villagers offered to help with canoes and fishing instruments, but they could not get her. Two days later, the late Faith's body was found on the Okuni Beach in the neighbouring village.
