Nigerian-London Based Designer “Duro Olowu” Presents Ready-To-Wear Spring 2013 Collection

London based Nigerian designer, Duro Olowu is a self-taught designer who established his label in 2004. He is one of the most sought after designers because of his excellent signature mix of African prints, seventies tailoring and unlikely colour combos which I would say focuses on the buttons.. He hit the starlite with his high-waist patchwork boho dress known as the “Duro” dress in 2005. Duro says his job is not about dictating to women what they should wear, it’s about presenting them with beautiful options.

The designer presented his ‘Ready-to-Wear’ Spring 2013 Collection at the New York Fashion Week. An elegant and over the top collection.

According to Duro Olowu, he wants to avoid creating girlie looks because he aspires to create for a woman that stands her ground.

The ready to wear collection featured covetable fluid dresses, trim jackets, ruffled chiffon gowns and blouses, slouchy big skirts and wide leg pants. These colourful and patterned pieces are simply chic; tailored to entice.

This award winning designer has created pieces for the likes of US President’s wife Michelle Obama and American actress Uma Thurman.
