Sexting - of bare bums and boobs!

There's a silent beep on Bimpe's phone she has just received a ping. She hastily picks up the phone and excuses herself from the room where she's watching a soap with her family. She runs to her room, checks the ping and giggles as she views the piece - its the naked bum of her classmate Jude. In reciprocation, Bimpe goes off to take snap shots of her bare breasts and presses the send button. At the other end, jude sends a ping saying "lovely boobs, when can I feel them"? the drama goes on and the teenagers give it a rest, only to continue the next morning.....Somewhere else, Amina sits in her work-station ostentibly doing her homework. Her mum is as pleased as punch because she usually chases her 14 year old daughter before she would sit down to her homework. Now the girl takes the initiative; if only her mum knew! As a sign of her pleasure, mum sends her daughter an iced cold fizzy drink and goes back into the kitchen. As soon as the kitchen door is shut. Amina resumes her sexting pinging game and hastily takes a shot of her tatooed bum and sends to an excited Segun who also forwards it to his friends who are roaring with laughter. "We have to talk her into showing us that tatoo after school," one of the friends says lustfully. The plotting then begins.
Its a cray and disturbing trend among teens and youths and its called sexting! Young adults and teenagers have developed an erotic hobby involved with risque photos and lewd language. Its the jet age, and with it comes the blatant display of nudity and vulgarity as teenagers are being lured by peer pressure into a harmful and unpleasant world.
Usually sexting does lead to physical act where the perpetrators meet up to perfect their wrong doing; while on other instances, it remains on the phone where the wild imagination are brewed; but whether it stays on the phone or get under the sheets, the whole idea pollutes a league of youths who, under normal circumstances should be spending their time with their studies or other meaningful stuffs.

I will say it plainly, teenagers are having sex on their phones, and then meeting up to have sex. For most of them, its just a fun game, deep down there are no plain intentions of living out their fantasie. But its only a matter of time before the devil comes to dinner.
Most youths and teens indulge in this lewd act because they have no relationship with adults. Those who should enlighten them about the woes of sexting shy away from making clear issues about sex. Parents shy away from educating their children on sex; schools have a lean interest on the subject. So the only option left is to experiment with their peers; thereby opening the child to various irreparable damages.
We youths also desire your empathy; adults are quick to brush off, rebuke or reprimand us. This can be very frustrating. They shouldn't keep quiet about sex, its not a taboo.
Partents should be aware of the dangers involved in sexting. Asa sang: "tell me who is responsible for what we teach our children, is it the internet or stars on television?" Do you ban your kids from using hi-tech phones, robbing them of the luxuries that the 21st century affords its inhabitants? Do you rid them of their social life..No.
The way out may not be too dramatic but I think its really important that parents and guardians teach their teens and youths about sex and intimacy; they need to prepare them for a balanced emotional life.
