Everyting You Need To know About The Channel O Awards 2012

Yes! The weekend is finally over and its a beautiful Monday morning out there. Don't worry, this week, myself and I will be bringing you up-straight entertainment, political, fashion gists and lots more. I digress, let's go back to the post, shall we?

The 9th annual Channel O Music Video Awards took place on Saturday, November 17 at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, South Africa and was hosted by Ice Prince and South African media personality, Bonang Matheba.
Thirteen Nigerian artists were nominated in various categories including; Tuface, D'banj, P- Square, Wizkid, Wande Coal, Davido,Mo'Cheddah, Brymo, Orezi, Flavour, Tiwa Savage, Naeto C and Ice Prince.
But only seven took home awards that night including Ice Prince for his 'Superstar' song as Most Gifted Hip-hop video of the Year, and D-Black ft. Mo'Cheddah for 'Falling' as the Most Gifted West African video of the Year which beat Wizkid, Sarkodie, Naeto C and Wande Coal. Davido who was nominated for the Most Gifted Newcomer video and Most Gifted Dance video categories got to win the Most Gifted Newcomer video of the Year award. Dbanj! D'banj's 'Oliver Twist' won the Most Gifted Video of the Year award beating Dj Zinhle ft Busiswa, Khuli Chana ft Notshi, Toya Delazy, Lizha James ft Perola, Big Nelo, Brymo, Sarkodie ft Obrafour, Camp Mulla and AY ft Romeo & Lamyia.
Two of the most closely watched categories at the awards were the Most Gifted Male Video which D'banj's 'Oliver Twist' clinched, and Most Gifted Female Video which Tiwa Savage lost to Zahara.
In his acceptance speech, D'Banj said: "A big thank you to Africa, make some noise. and put your hands up if you believe it is our time to shine."

Other winners include Brymo for The Most Gifted Afro Pop Video of the Year; P-Square ft. Akon & May D 'Chop My Money' for the Most Gifted Duo of the Year and DJ Cleo for the Most Gifted Dance Video of the Year.
The show kicked off with a performance by Soweto's PRO and others performers included Khuli Chana, Mi Casa, DJ Zinhle, former Big Brother Africa housemate/rapper Zues, Mo Cheddah and Kwaito legend, DJ and record company owner, Oscar 'Oskido' Mdlongwa was given the Special Recognition award for his contribution to the country's music industry.
D'Banj stole the show with a performance of his hit song 'Oliver Twist'.
